Senior Researcher: ecosystem services (SYKE, Joensuu, Finland)

SYKEs office in Joensuu is hiring a Senior Researcher for a five year position, which may be extended.

The senior researcher is expected to provide knowledge for the assessment and valuation of ecosystem services in relation to biodiversity and sustainable use of natural resources. The senior researcher is responsible for interdisciplinary (ecological, economic, social and cultural) research on ecosystem services as well as for the conceptual and methodological development of the research field at SYKE. The senior researcher is expected to collaborate with colleagues at SYKE's offices and to participate in research networks at the Joensuu campus.

The applicants should have a PhD in an appropriate field, several years of research experience, experience in managing large projects and success in carrying out research in the field of sustainable use of natural resources, excellent skills in spoken and written English as well as collaboration skills. We appreciate experience in evaluation and valuation methods, international networking as well as proved success in research project management.

The application should include a cv, list of publications, as well as a plan for the applicant´s research on the interdisciplinary assessment and valuation of ecosystem services, including views on how the research related to ecosystem services should be developed in SYKE during the next 5 years (max 3 pages). When developing the plan, the applicant should pay attention, apart from the issues raised above, to network building, national and international linkages and identification of potential funding sources.
