Communication, Awareness & Dissemination
Increased understanding and public awareness about the functioning of natural ecosystems and the dependence of human society on biodiversity is urgently needed as a primary requirement for achieving sustainable development. Therefore, the Foundation for Sustainable Development is active in development of publications, learning material and training and educational programs.
Workshops The Foundation organises workshops (seminars, training days, conferences, etc.) on issues related to sustainable development (e.g. valuing wetland ecosystem services) or assists and advises other organisations in realising such meetings.
Publications Information is also disseminated through the publication of articles (including scientific journals and non-academic literature), books and other written material such as periodic newsletters. An updated list of publications by FSD board-members will be posted soon.
Educational Material FSD aims to provide a range of targeted educational products across a range of media: internet (including audiovisual presentations), print, seminars and workshops, courses and exhibitions. FSD research - particularly the de NatuurKalender initiative - is regularly featured in the Dutch media (e.g. radio, print and television).
Internet Fora The internet provides access to innovative tools for communication. A popular way to disseminate information is through databases and email listservers as they facilitate contact, ineraction and networking between people and organisations. FSD facilitates various listservers, databases and interactive websites to support knowledge exchange and information dissemination.
